Jack says he can't take credit for all of the improvements that have been made over the past few years. (meeting moved from Salon A to Main Ballroom) Maggie Katz - Currently Membership and Extension Director Thinks they've accomploished a lot this year, making the membership process more clear - she'd like to do this for a few more years because she has no social life and needs something to do on weekends. :) Has visited each of the 11 Regions over the past few years. Ed Richter - National Service & Communications Driector Wants to continue things he started; has visited all regions at least once, has been finding new opportunities for fraternity, establishing connections with other national youth service organizations and other service organizations New Orleans Bid Team gave presentation - they're very excited. They quoted some low airline fares from major cities; the hotels will be walking distance from the french quarter; listed the service opportunities in New Orleans. Region 7 is 10% of the 2000 convention attendees, they claim to know how to run a national convention. Ron Sklamm - running for Program Director - he belie ves we have an excellent opportunity to leverage ourselves to be more effective on campuses. He believes that every two years trends on campuses change (skateboards to scooters), these trends come from the students. We need to tailor the messages for the recipient. He's a strategist for IBM for e-learning. Bobby Hainline - has been on board a number of years - running for Program Director - finance director was valuable to him because he was finishing his MBA at the time, but being an alumni director was valuable because he was able to interact with the members Kieth Roots - running for Program Directotr, pledged at Theta, worked at national level with SRW, has been on LD committee last two years, is assistant to provost at U of Virginia (fiscal officer, not accountant) He feels that his strength is building coalitions, sees APO in the future expanding and growing, could be at 450-500 active chapters within 5 years (with a lot of work on our part). Jim Hahn - running for program director - professionally works for an environmental lobbying firm - is not on slate that came out of NomCom - has specific ideas for each of the potential jobs. Room 1086 - wants people to call him if they have questions. John Wotherington - Current National VP, running for reelection - leadership development is his favorite area; under past few years we've had a focus on teamwork. Dr. Lisa Covi - running for program director - lives in NJ, near New Brunswick, is professor at Rutgers, pledged at Kappa. Has worked with LD program and SRW, helped organize last summer's Easton event. Co-founded APO-L back in 1987. Dan Rauch - running for program director - currently in Alumni Relations slot - has been in fraternity longer than Cheyrl Smith - professionally is a CPA, has been working for not-for-profits for the past 10 years. Is an Eagle Scout, feels that our current association with Scouting is appropriate. Atlanta Bid Team - they have 3 hotels that meet board standards, 2 that _exceed_ the board standards. Hyped the Atlanta mass transit system (runs from airport to the hotels) and Atlanta airport. Teri Sheets - running for program director - has been planning and advancement director - formerly region X director.brings motivation and enthusiasm to APO. Important: Internal Volunteer Development, increase core voulunteers, increasing capital development. Phi Regionals Bid - "Orange You Glad You Chose Service" - talked about Transportation, Hotel, service, shopping, museums and attractions. Syracuse has an airport and bus & train terminals; less than 350 miles from all major metropolitan areas in Regions. Free parking for overnight guests. Prliminary prices: $50 reg, $30 banq, $62/night hotel. Service projects: food bank, rescue mission, ronald mcdonald house, community centers, american red cross, american lung association.
